About the Guest of Honour

The Right Reverend Rennis Ponniah is Assistant Bishop of the Anglican Diocese in Singapore. He is also Vicar of St John's St Margaret's Church, at Dover, where he has been part of his church's growth in evangelism, world missions and community services over the last 12 years.
Bishop Rennis believes in raising up a generation of holy, Spirit-filled people through strong ministry of the Word and the Spirit. As the Assistant Bishop, he mentors the clergy that shepherd the 26 congregations of the Anglican Diocese in Singapore. At home, he too shepherds his little flock comprising his wife and four children.
One of his thrills is being on the mission field during his regular visits to minister to or come alongside the field workers. His passion is that pastors will both build up their flock as disciples of Christ and 'grow' their flock by leading their church in evangelism and world missions.
About Consecration
From the earliest times, Colours (specially consecrated flags) have been distinguishing marks for a Company as the symbol of the spirit and tradition of the Brigade and its Founder. Colours can only be paraded on ceremonial occasions.
The Consecration Ceremony, a once-off event in the history of a BB Company, is when a Company's regimental Colours are dedicated to the glory of God and consecrated for holy service.
Only a Company that has attained certain milestones in size, achievements and efficiency can hope to own its own Colours; a strict and often lengthy application and review process ensures this. Thus being awarded the Colours is a strong affirmation that the Company now stands as a testimony of God's grace and glory.
The Role of Sponsor Colours cannot be purchased; they must be sponsored. Besides covering the expenses of embroidering the Colours, the Sponsor symbolically ratifies the award of Colours to the Company, serving as a tremendous source of encouragement. In the case of 11th Singapore Company, the Anglican Diocese of Singapore had sponsored the Colours through the Light of Christ Church Woodlands Parish. Given that the Vicar is the Chaplain, the sponsor would best be represented by the Bishop, as the head of the Anglican Church in Singapore, or his representative. In view of the importance of this event, including the fact that it is one-off, we are honoured to have Assistant Bishop to be the representative Sponsor, as well as Guest-of-Honour for the Consecration Ceremony.
